studio

So I thought I should take acouple photos of my studio so people could see where I do my work. But let me prepare you for what you are going to see,So my dream would be to have this cute little studio somewhere with a group of other crafters or artsy people. But the reality is my studio is in my basement, my husband was very nice to find me a nice spot for my work area and even wired a special area for my kiln,but it is still a dark basement!

So my goal this year was too kick up the business enough to see about finding an outside studio space!!!
or redoing the current one that I have? but time will tell to see what I can do but here are a couple pics of my studio.

Vintage Buttons

Just a preview of some new designs I made for this year,I have taken vintage buttons and made a mold out of them and then turned them into beautiful pieces of jewelry.here are a few pics of the process.

First show of the season

I just booked my first show of the season its on sat march 19th 2011 in framingham mass. The Heritage Craft Show more info to fallow.I also have a new collection of vintage buttons that I have made molds of and I am making then into pendants and earrings.I will post some pics once I finish them. I am very excited for this year in my jewelry making I have so many new ideas and designs.hope you all like them.

New Design

Just thought I would share  new pieces I made for spring.So I was inspired by a bird house that my son kyle made for me and thought how cute it would be in a pendant? well it hangs out back in a tree that is always covered with birds.so I took a picture and sat down to draw it out and see what size I could make it. I made a model in paper and glued it together and then said I think I can make this in silver?so here are a few pic of the original then the paper model then the real thing. I was very happy with the out come and am now starting to think about the next bird house design .I also have a new design for a dangle earring so fun and light weight.

The farm

If you look at my pieces most of them are of nature or Asian inspired.so I thought I would post a couple pics of my home so you can see where i get my inspiration from. I live on a small farm and we have cows, chickens, pigs, goats and the occasional wild critter that we see running around. every time I go outside I swear I see something I haven't seen before and we have been here for four years. So the  nature inspired pieces are from my back yard. I also have this truly deep love and respect for Buddha.  I collect them I have so many they just make me happy every time I see one. I have only made a couple buddha pieces and even though I would love to keep them I always give in when someone asks me if they are for sale.So this year I hope to make lots more!

After Christmas

well its the day after christmas and santa was so good to us this year! I think this was the best christmas ever. the boys good so much . so I am getting ready to start the new year with some new designs from the studio I hope to have some pics in the next couple weeks. we are getting a crazy blizzard today perfect day to make jewelry. I am starting to research so new shows to do this year also. the creative juices are flowing!

A new start

Well this a first for me, I recently have been inspired to start a blog I have been fallowing a couple and realize  I have become some what addicted to them. I truley love creative people and love to fallow there success< so I figured why not give it a try myself. My name is Katy I live on a small farm in grafton mass. Even though I have been a hairstylist for 19 years! for the last 3 or so I have been making sterling silver jewelry. Just in the last year or so I have been really trying to promote and sell it by  having a store on etsy silverbutterly9 and in my hair salon, plus I have been seen around at some local craft shows. I hope this will inspire someone ealse someday also plus track my business as it grows!
